Antonio Brown, the Oakland Raider’s outsider, has sued the NFL again, this time still related to the helmet issue. Brown said the NFL did not give him a calendar year to find a new helmet for himself.

The lawsuit is the latest in a series of upheavals over Brown’s inability to use his preferred helmet. Brown had previously sued the NFL for exemption from the use of his preferred helmet model, but the independent arbitrator did not support Brown’s claim.

Many players, including Tom Brady, a New England Patriot quarterback, were granted a one-year pardon last season, during which they could use banned helmet models. The NFL and NFL players’unions abolished the pardon period at the end of last season, and all of them changed to new helmets.

Brown had previously found a loophole in the NFL’s rules on helmet usage that his preferred model was not included in the NFL’s banned model. He believes that if he finds a suitable alternative helmet, the same type of helmet with a life of less than 10 years, he can continue to use the old one as he wishes. But the replacement helmet he found did not pass further tests. Since the replacement helmet was banned, Brown believes he should be given the same pardon as those players last season.

Mike Mayock, the general manager of the raiders, said Sunday that Brown had missed training again because of helmet problems and that the team was beginning to lose patience as everyone else was working hard and Brown did not.

“AB is not here today,” Mayork said. “The key is that he is disappointed with his helmet. Oakland Raiders jerseys We have supported his request and we understand him. But now they’ve done everything they can. So from our point of view, it’s time for him to either put his heart into it or go to hell. We hope he will return soon. We have 89 players working hard. We are very excited about the direction of the team’s development and we hope AB can be an important part of it, starting with the first week against Denver. That’s it, no doubt.”

Brown’s agent denied Brown’s absence from training and Mayork’s claim that the Raiders had done everything they could. He said Brown’s concerns about the helmet had something to do with personal safety. Brown returned to the team’s training base on Monday, according to people familiar with the matter.

Although the Raiders had always publicly supported Brown, it was clear that their patience was limited. But after missing most training camps due to foot frostbite and helmet problems, it seems that Brown’s off-site storms are far from over.
